we were doing the towel thing every morning and my back was going. tried this, hand on the back handle and he's up. I'm 5ft 2 and he's 34kg. didn't think I'd be able to do it on my own

ours is 13 with dodgy back legs. not a cure obviously but he gets up with a bit of help at the back instead of us hauling him. stairs are doable again

The £120 ramp in your garage wasn't a mistake. It solved the slope. It just never solved the push.

Questions people ask

Before you decide

Will my dog actually wear it?

Most settle within a few days if you follow the guide: put it on, feed him, ignore it, no lifting on day one. Some take longer. If he really won't have it, you've got 90 days to send it back.

Can I honestly manage him on my own?

That's the whole point. You're not lifting all of him. His feet stay on the floor and he pushes; you add the last bit, stood up, with a handle. He does need to be able to take some weight on his legs.

Can he go to the toilet in it?

Yes. The back part goes round each leg, so there's nothing under his tummy or in the way.

Is it a faff to put on?

Five clips. Neck, each side, each back leg. You can do it while he's lying down, and nothing goes underneath him. Most people leave it on through the day.

How do I know it'll fit?

Measure his chest and his back and use the chart. Between sizes, go bigger. It adjusts in several places, and if it's wrong, send it back.

Why £59.90 when there are £30 ones?

Because of where the handle sits, the leg loops instead of a belly strap, the padding, and the 90-day guarantee. I looked at the cheap ones. If one of those works for your dog, brilliant. This is for the people it didn't work for.

He's already on tablets and supplements. Do I still need this?

Keep doing whatever your vet's told you. That's for how he feels. This is for getting him up off the floor this morning. Different jobs, and they work together.

Does it help going down the stairs?

Yes, with the front handle steadying him and your hand on the rear handle, one step at a time. Going down is the bit most people dread, so the guide covers it first.

How long does it take to arrive?

7 to 10 days. It's worth ordering before you're desperate.

Does it fix his legs?

No, and I'd be wary of anything that says it does. It doesn't treat arthritis or build his muscle back. It helps him stand up on the legs he's got, and keeps him using them.
